The 2025 Federal Election

Explained Simply

This year, on or before 17 May 2025, Australians will vote to decide who represents them in Parliament - the place where laws are made.

This election will determine which political party or group of representatives forms the government and makes decisions that affect the whole country.

What is a Political Party?

A political party is a group of people who share similar ideas and work together to get elected. The biggest parties are Labor and Liberal, but there are also smaller parties, such as Greens, and Independents (candidates with no party).

What Are We Voting For?

Australia’s Parliament has two parts:

  • House of Representatives (Green Ballot)

Each electorate (area) elects one local representative (MP – Member of Parliament).

The party (or group) that wins the most seats usually forms government.

If a party wins more than half the seats, their leader becomes Prime Minister.

  • Senate (White Ballot)

Each state elects 12 senators, and each territory elects 2 senators.

The Senate reviews and approves laws.

  • House of Representatives (Green Ballot)

Number every box in order of your preference.

  • Senate (White Ballot)

Either number at least 6 boxes above the line or at least 12 below the line for your vote to count.

Where is Fadden?

Fadden is a federal electorate on the northern Gold Coast, covering suburbs like Runaway Bay, Labrador, Coomera, Helensvale, Ormeau, and Pimpama.

It’s a fast-growing area with a mix of families, workers, and retirees.

As your local representative, my focus is on tackling the issues that matter to Fadden - like cost of living, housing, infrastructure, and jobs - to make sure our community gets the support it needs.

Why Your Vote Matters

Your vote decides who represents Fadden in Parliament.

This is your chance to choose someone who will fight for real change.
